About Our Recreational Offerings

Recreational soccer is a soccer program primarily devoted to the  enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on travel or “high-level” competition. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport and develop life skills including a lifelong love of the game.

Please reference the chart below for your child's age group for the 2021-2022 season based on birth year. (6th Column over from left)



For the Spring 2022 season, we have looked at previous seasons registration numbers across age groups and will plan to organize as below until we see "actual" registration numbers.

Please understand that nothing is “official” until we see final registration numbers.

2016 (U6) - Volunteer coach, 1 training session a week and a game.
Practice night is Tuesday or Wednesday based on Field Availability.

Help us provide a positive environment for your child, volunteer today!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! If you register and are selected to be a head coach for recreational soccer, you will receive a check in the amount of $115 (cost of one child's registration) at the end of the season when you turn in your equipment bag. Head coaches are required to complete a background check, attend preseason training, including SafeSport training, attend practice sessions and games, and communicate with their players weekly.

Recreational Soccer Offerings

The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport and develop life skills including a life long love of the game.

Offered Programs



 Pre-K Soccer:
Children age 2 1/2 to 4, up to Kindergarten.  This is a special program with Professional Trainers that introduces the basics of soccer and fosters a fun, exciting environment for players to enjoy.


U6 (Kindergarten) Soccer:
Children currently enrolled in Kindergarten.  This program introduces the player to the basics of soccer through the use of age appropriate drills and small sided games.



U7 (1st Grade) Soccer:
Children currently enrolled in 1st Grade.  This program introduces the player to the basics of soccer through the use of age appropriate drills and small sided games.



U8 (2nd Grade) Soccer :
Children in 2nd grade focus on learning the basics of soccer with the use of age appropriate drills and small sided games.



U9-U10 (3rd-4th Grade) Soccer:
Children in 3rd and 4th grade participate in an 7 v 7 format playing teams from Newington and occasionally other area towns.



U11, U12 (5th-6th Grade) Soccer:
Children in 5th and 6th grade participate in 9 v 9 competition against recreational teams from other area towns.


 U13, &U14 (7th-8th Grade) Soccer:
Children in 5th and 6th grade participate in 9 v 9 competition against recreational teams from other area towns.
